40tude's 2019 Cycle Challenge:

La Vuelta a España

25th - 29th September 2019

For our 2019 Cycle Challenge we will be riding across southern Spain, following in the tracks of the Greeks, Iberians, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors, French and of course the Spanish who have all conquered this region of Spain.  Our route from Antequera to stunning Granada will take us also to historic Cordoba (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and into the province of Jaén - Spain’s largest olive growing area - to the delightful small town of Alcala la Real, nestled below a medieval fortress.  During this tour our peloton will have the opportunity to climb Europe's highest road, the Pico de Veleta (an hors categorie climb and stage finish in the 2009 Vuelta).

This ride will offer greater distances and ascents than on any of 40tude’s previous cycle challenges, both in terms of the total height climbed and the most height climbed in a single day since our records began.  Our cyclists are preparing to take on our challenge of riding up to 500km, with combined ascents totalling more than 8100m along some notable Vuelta routes, in just 3½ days in the saddle.

As always however there will be a variety of routes to suit everyone, catering for novice and intermediate riders too.  With differing ability groups and a choice of route options each day, we strive to ensure our fully guided rides are be achievable and enjoyable for less regular riders too.

Registration for this ride is now closed. However if you would be interested in joining us please contact Kate who will add you to our waiting list.

If you would be interested in joining us for our ride in 2020 please let Kate know so we can be sure to send you all the details as soon as they are confirmed.

40tude's 2018 Cycle Challenge in Sardinia

Congratulations to all those who successfully completed our Sardinia Cycle Challenge. Over three and a half days from Wednesday 26th to Saturday 30th September our amazing peloton of 51 riders, led by our guides from pie cycling events, took on Sardinia’s hills and rural countryside. With over 13% of the island classified as mountainous and almost 70% of it classified as hilly, this lumpy ride was no mean challenge for our cyclists!

We’re delighted that they’ve raised over £67,000 as a result of their efforts - vital funds helping to support pioneering research programmes at St. Mark’s Hospital, targeted at the early diagnosis and tr'eatment of colon cancer. If you would like to show our brilliant team of cyclists your support, there’s still time to sponsor them at:  https://mydonate.bt.com/events/40tude2018sardiniacycle/455298 Thank you.

Thank you to Jake Hatt of Free Bird Film for producing this film, showing the fantastic efforts of our 51 riders as they rode from the east side of the island to the west, via Sardinia’s central mountainous region.
