About 40tude curing colon cancer

40tude curing colon cancer is an organisation that has been established to fight the second biggest cancer killer in the Western world.

In the UK, there are over 40,000 new cases of colon cancer each year, and over 16,000 deaths. The good news, however, is that colon cancer is one of the easiest cancers to treat if it is detected early. Therefore, something can be done to improve these dreadful statistics, and 40tude curing colon cancer is ready to take action.

40tude curing colon cancer aims to raise awareness of colon cancer symptoms, encourage those at most risk to join a colon screening programme, and to support medical research and treatments of colon cancer.

Since it began in 2011, 40tude curing colon cancer has attracted an ever expanding network of proactive, dynamic and positive individuals who have shown staggering levels of support. They have cycled from London to Paris, and across the hills of Provence and to the summit of Mont Ventoux; they have jumped out of aeroplanes, competed in Ironman races, climbed the Three Peaks, and taken part in many more similar challenges - all for the purposes of raising colon cancer awareness and funds.

Already, £800,000 has been raised by 40tude to fund pioneering research projects at St. Mark's Hospital in Harrow - a world leading centre in research and the development of treatments for bowel disorders. Our funding has supported the development of the FLEX project, a new minimally invasive surgery technique that could be rolled out across the UK and potentially the world. It saves cancer patients having to have large sections of their colon removed, whilst still removing the cancer effectively. This means vastly improved care and faster post-operation recovery time.

40tude is also funding the Artificial Bowel project at St. Mark's, looking into engineering new bowel tissue using a unique scaffold.

If you would like to support 40tude curing colon cancer there are a number of ways in which you can. You could enter one of our events, volunteer your time and skills, or simply make a donation. Please do contact Kate@40tude.org.uk if you would like to discuss how best you can contribute.

Thank you for your support.
