40tude makes it onto the front page of the Richmond & Twickenham Times

We're delighted that our recent paddleboard marathon (this year called Gav's Paddle: the 40tude SUP Marathon 2018) made the front page of the Richmond & Twickenham Times.  Our 90 amazing paddlers were featured large by the paper and have helped raise awareness of colon cancer through their efforts, paddling some 26 miles of the River Thames on 16th June.

American Cancer Society lowers recommended age for colon cancer screening from 45 to 50

We're delighted that the American Cancer Society  is now recommending that adults undergo screening for colon cancer from the age of 45 rather than 50 - as does 40tude.

In its announcement of the American Cancer Society's change in guidelines earlier this week, the Washington Post reported that the organisation said extensive analysis showed that lowering the starting age for screening would save lives. For more about this step change please go to:

40tude strongly recommends that you are screened regularly for colon cancer from your mid-40s. Heightened awareness of colon cancer is essential, particularly from the age of 45, and any abdominal symptoms or change in bowel habit should be discussed immediately with your doctor, whatever your age.

In your mid-40s? 40tude strongly recommends that you are screened regularly for colon cancer

Please don't put off getting yourself screened for colon cancer.  Heightened awareness of colon cancer is essential, particularly for anyone over 45.

High quality CT Colonography (CT scanner based screening method) and colonoscopy are the most accurate methods for examining the colon for precursor polyps and cancer. The NHS is not able to offer these forms of screening to the whole population but that shouldn't stop you considering adding them to your screening programme.

40tude strongly recommends that you are screened regularly for colon cancer from your mid-40s and we hope George Alagiah's story will inspire you also to take action now to arrange to be screened for this type of cancer, which is preventable if the signs are detected early:

Don't put off being screened - it's easier than you think!

We're excited to be able to show you a first hand account of just how easy CT Colonography screening can be.  Colonoscopy and accredited CT Colongraphy are currently the 'gold standards' of bowel screening and 40tude is working to help make CT Colonography (CTC) more widely accessible throughout the UK.  Please take a moment to watch this short video and consider including CTC in your screening programme.
